FEDERAL SHADOWS IN THE CANADIAN PRISONS
The Case of Brainwashing
The fact that Huxleyan mild totalitarianism is coming -- with its chemical persuasion and subliminal propaganda technologies -- is too old a narrative, it seems. On the background of drone extralegal executions and chronic peripheral warfare waged by the imperial jandarmerie with the modest signature from the White House, one needs a synthetic imaginative narrative of Huxley-Orwellian proportions with the supplemental insider documentaries (like that of Solzhenitsyn's, Primo Levi's and others' of the former, antiquated times). But before we get real stories and memoirs from the darkest gulags of the newest empire, we can read some stories about the milder places, places where targeted individuals can talk on the phone to their family while being sleep-deprived, used for non-consensual drug experiments, and brainwashed. One such place is described in the FEDERAL SHADOWS IN THE CANADIAN PRISONS The Case of Brainwashing.
Synopsis
The book is an autobiographical essay and presents my experience in certain Canadian federal (and non-federal) prisons. The narrative mainly concentrates on the covert program, the federal correctional agencies (CSC) practiced in the institutions. Such notions as brainwashing, mind control and coercive persuasion are sometimes discussed in the relevant literature in the context of semi-mythical and mystical conceptual frame. The Federal Shadows in the Canadian Prisons, however, will show the reader that in fact these notions may describe very scientific, empirically verifiable hard behavior modification techniques, which is practiced in the institutions of mentioned type. One of the figures, whose ideas are discussed in the book, and whose concepts serve as a paradigmatic frame for explaining the methods used in the program, is William Sargant. His thinking about the methods of conversion is made relevant by illustrating the program's orientation on harsh methods of fear induction and deliberate debilitation in combination with staged church ceremonies and rituals of transformation (baptism, etc)...
The synopsis refers to the book that has been published in the Republic of Georgia. There are Georgian and English versions of the book. One will most likely get something from reading it, especially if one is interested in the methods of psychological warfare and brainwashing, and how these are being applied to the dissidents of certain sorts -- by the Canadian, and American police-security services.
